Johnson rules out bid for president

(GNN) – Several unconfirmed sources close to actress Amy Jo Johnson tell GNN the former pink Power Ranger will announce she is not running for President of The United States in 2012.

These sources say she has been flattered by the efforts to nudge her into the presidential race but, as one of the sources put it, "she is a realist and kept coming back to questions about the fund-raising." A second source said some around Johnson also have reminded her of the difficulty of mounting a U.S. presidential campaign from Canada where she is currently filming the hit series Flashpoint.

"Amy doesn't like being second in anything and there was already a U.S. president named Johnson, so I think that weighed heavily on her final decision not to run" said someone who claims to know the actress. "Most Americans don't even remember Lyndon B. Johnson, to be honest I had to wiki him, so I don't think that should be an issue unless they put him on a $25 dollar bill or something" said a fan of the actress. 

College student Craig Tripps said he will vote for Johnson even if he has to cast a write in ballot. "I wish we could do write ins from my iPad but if I have to put a pen to paper I will," said Tripps. "Me and all my friends voted for Obama last time so we could make history by electing the first African American man to the U.S. presidency, this time not only will it be the first woman elected, it will also be the first woman who lives in Canada to be elected to the U.S. presidency! In a perfect world Amy Jo would be at least half Hispanic but you can't have everything." added Tripps.

While Johnson polls in the low single digits in most national surveys on a hypothetical 2012 nomination, she did create a lot of buzz by winning the student presidential election at Angel Grove High School during her tenure on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

Earlier this year, The Order of Meridian, a religious group, launched efforts to convince Johnson into making a bid for the White House.

Mexican faithful attribute miracles to Amy Jo Johnson

The exhibition of personal effects of actress Amy Jo Johnson, in the northern Mexican city of Monterrey, has led some Mexican faithful to attribute new miracles to the former pink Power Ranger and current Flashpoint star.
"People who come here feel very touched and even moved to tears. They say that they feel the presence of Amy Jo Johnson," Order of Meridian member Guillermo Santoro, whose organization put together the exhibit, told GNN.

"Many people who are ill have come here," Santoro said, noting the case of a woman suffering pain in one of her arms, which she pressed against the marble replica of one of Amy Jo Johnson’s hands, and asked the actress to help her get better.

"The woman later returned to give thanks to Amy Jo Johnson because the problem she was suffering from had gone away," Santoro said.

Miracle goat

The exibit's director also mentioned the case of an elderly woman whose baby goat was suffering from an illness that doctors believed would cause its premature death. Meridian leaders suggested the woman pray at the same time that Flashpoint was on television.

The woman, who did not own a television, went to pray at the local electronics store and "with all the faith in the world," she asked Amy Jo to perform a miracle for her baby goat, Santoro said.
The woman recently returned to the exhibition to thank Amy Jo because her goat is still alive and its illness has disappeared.

Santoro said that the faithful pray, cry, bring DVDs, old VHS tapes and even autographed photographs and place them before some of the 150 belongings of Amy Jo that have been on display since April 24.
The exhibition has been visited by approximately 100,000 people, both from northern Mexico and from the nearby southwest of the United States.

Among the objects in the exhibit are the pink shorts and roller blades worn by Amy Jo Johnson in Power Rangers The Movie, a guitar she used while recording The Trans American Treatment, a bicycle she once rode to a convenience store to pick up a pack of Marlboro Lights, a baseball cap, an official WB network umbrella, a garden hose used by the actress during a photo shoot, a basketball used in the film Susie Q and designer sun glasses that she wore during a golf tournament.

The exhibition was scheduled to end last June 27 during the annual Agua Bendita de Baño, an aquatic ceremony conducted in a cave filled with Amy Jo Johnson’s bath water which has been collected from around the globe. Each year worshipers are encouraged to bring a small amount of soil that Amy has walked on to the cave, sprinkle some of the soil into the bath water and then submerge themselves for total purification. The Order of Meridian has been asked by the local government to keep the exhibit open until March 2012.

Spandex Hero remake announced

In a shocking development, Columbus Films presidents Doug Belittle and Matt Toeyam have announced that Underworld director Len Wiseman is in final negotiations to direct their remake of the Zhang Bang Chang film, Spandex Hero. This announcement comes less than a week after Bang Chang announced that he was making a film based on the life of Amy Jo Johnson.

Wiseman is best known as Mr. Kate Beckinsale, the director of Underworld and enough Underworld sequels to make Underworld fans shrug and say “Another Underworld sequel, yay?”

“The plan is to create a brand new contemporary take on the Spandex Hero story based on Zhang Bang Chang‘s still unfinished film” a source who once stood close to the director reported. “Wiseman read almost four full pages of Bang Chang’s 2134 page script and he was just blown away by the concept”. “He’s always been fascinated with Bang Chang films, and I’m excited at that prospect of Len diving even deeper into the type of world Bang Chang evokes and the questions Bang Chang’s film asks. I love that Len wants to shoot his version of Spandex Hero in 3D and that Len has set the film in modern day Hungary. It's a bold move by an even bolder director."

The original Spandex Hero is set in ancient China and is a total mind-trip, causing you to question if it’s all real or if it’s all just in your mind. The original film is actually still in pre-production but when the studio sees a good idea come from a source outside the Hollywood system, they tend to shoot first and ask questions later. The problem some insiders see is that Bang Chang’s film is set to come out in 2013; we don’t like a lot of remakes being announced before the original film is finished and some in Hollywood have called the remake just sort of crazy. “It’s really a matter of the public’s perception,” said an industry insider, “If Wiseman can finish his version of Spandex Hero before Bang Chang finishes his version of the film, people will think Bang Chang is the one who filmed a re-make.”

Though Wiseman’s film is being called a remake of sorts, this new movie is more of a second adaptation or re-imagining of Bang Chang‘s original script. But who would play the lead role of Amy Jo Johnson? “Len would love to see his wife Kate Beckinsale in the role but if she wants to be a stubborn bitch he could tap Rhona Mitra to play the role of Johnson,” said a source close to Wiseman’s pool boy.

Well, according to yet another industry source, a janitor at the studio expected Amy Jo Johnson to play Amy Jo Johnson. This fits with a subtle-yet-interesting trend of casting lesser-known actors in roles of lesser-known actors if that actor is the actor being portrayed. Wiseman sees “no point in using Johnson in a film about Johnson when you can go in an entirely different direction,” said a friend of the director’s long time dog groomer.

Despite your feelings about another version of Spandex Hero being made, the studio doesn’t really care how you feel and that has to be a big positive. The 3D movie might even be going to space, which was not part of the original Bang Chang script. Descriptions of Wiseman’s re-imagined script are vague, for sure, but the studio promises there will be “dozens of beautiful women who wear skin tight latex cat suits flying through space propelled by jet packs” in the soon to be blockbuster film.

"I think the world that Len Wiseman is creating is incredible. It’s the real 3D world and a real feeling future 3D world, where everything is in 3D and huge unexplained explosions blow up lots of cool stuff. Add to that the fact that they are shooting in Hungary, so you can expect lots of latex clad, gothic, 3D vampires. It’s just everything I like to see in a movie, it just makes me more and more excited," said one industry insider.

“They’re playing it like a real world, but there are 3D advancements to the real world, and it’s just really, it’s cool, so cool, so very cool, it just oozes coolness, it’s going to be very cool. Even though they haven’t shot a single frame I know it’s an awesome movie. I’m dying, as a fan of movies, more than anything, it’s a movie that I’m just dying to see,” said an un-named source on an Internet message board.

Bang Chang's film is expected to be huge so count on this Wiseman remake to be huge, as well. When compared in scope to Wiseman’s other latex clad vampire projects the studio says that Spandex Hero is bigger, more bloated, and just freakin enormous. That can only be good news for action fans!

SWEET WATER, AL. -- Thou shalt not use Facebook to create fake Amy Jo Johnson profiles. That's the edict from an Alabama temple leader who feels that fake Amy Jo Johnson Facebook profiles can lead to temptation, sexually transmitted diseases and even total insanity.

Grand Prior Vader said about 200 worshipers among the estimated 1,109,056 members of The Order of Meridian’s Temple of Amy Jo Johnson have run into trouble over the last six months after they connected with Amy Jo Johnson worshipers by creating fake Amy Jo Johnson Facebook accounts.

Because of the problems, he is ordering about 20 high ranking temple officials to delete their accounts with the social networking site or resign from their leadership positions. He had previously asked confused congregants to share their login information with the temple’s leaders and now plans to suggest that they give up their fake and real Facebook profiles altogether.


"I've been in extended counseling with dozens of Amy Jo Johnson worshipers because of Facebook," he said. "What happens is someone decides they are so in touch with the pure spirit of Amy Jo Johnson that they can think and even speak as her, without the religious training that we temple leaders have undergone, it’s pure madness and very dangerous. It leads to conversations with worshipers who think they are actually speaking with the real Amy Jo Johnson and these worshipers are rightfully willing to do Amy Jo’s bidding whatever that may be. These fakes then feel the rush of power and sometimes order the worshiper to have physical meet-ups. The temptation is just too great for those without proper training."

Grand Prior Vader has a Facebook account that he uses to keep in touch with global Temple of Amy Jo Johnson members, but he will heed his own advice and cancel his account this weekend. On Sunday, he plans to "strongly suggest" that all temple members stop using Facebook, lest they endanger their purity and sanity. "The advice will go to the entire order," he said. "They'll hear what I'm asking of my order’s leadership. I won't mandate it for the entire temple, but I hope people will follow my advice."

Vader said he has spoken from the pulpit before about the dangers of Facebook, asking people to un-friend all fake Amy Jo Johnson profiles. "Some did. Others got scared and deleted their own fake Amy Jo Johnson accounts right away. And some felt it was none of my business and continued on pretending to be Amy Jo," he said.
Vader said he has gotten a mostly positive response so far among the leaders subject to his edict, which was first reported by the Lakeside Park Press.

“It’s almost as if everyone has forgotten The Winona Ryder Myspace wars of 2005” said Vader referring to the violent clashes between Winona Ryder worshipers known as The Children of Noni. Countless casualties occurred after a popular Winona Ryder Myspace page admitted that they were a fake and it was all a joke. “The Children of Noni were permanently splintered during those dark days with some worshipers favoring the fake Winona over the real Winona because quite frankly, the fake was far more interesting than the real Winona Ryder,” added Vader. “We should learn from past mistakes even if these lessons come from misguided heathens.”

Chastity Ronson, a volunteer at the temple, uses her Facebook account to connect with actual friends that she really knows in real life. She does not have a fake Amy Jo Johnson account and is therefore not required to delete any fake account, but she agrees with Vader about the dangers such sites can create.
"I know he feels very strongly about this," she said. "Facebook can be a useful tool, but it also can cause great problems in a person’s fragile mind. If you take the time to set up a fake Amy Jo Johnson account and pretend to be Amy Jo Johnson on Facebook, you've got a serious mental problem and might even need to get some sort of counseling."
Ronson says there are legitimate uses for Facebook, which is why she started an account a few years ago. "People use it as an opportunity to invite others to temple gatherings, to share Scripture or talk about what went on at the temple picnic or to play Farmville," she said. "Those are all positive, worthwhile things. But for the weak minded, the downside is just too great."

The Temple has released a Facebook safety guide on spotting fake Amy Jo Johnson profiles which states you should un-friend any Amy Jo Johnson profile if any of the following events occur.

1. Amy Jo Johnson responds to the email you sent telling her how cool you thought she was when she played Kimberly the pink Power Ranger.
2. Amy Jo Johnson “pokes” you.
3. Amy Jo Johnson wishes you a happy birthday on your wall.
4. Amy Jo Johnson friends one or more of your real friends.
5. Amy Jo Johnson agrees to come to your town for “a quick acoustic set”.
6. Amy Jo Johnson “likes” any photos that show the real you.
7. Amy Jo Johnson sends you Mafia Wars requests.
8. Amy Jo Johnson asks you to meet her middle-aged friend named Chuck at the local Motel 6.
9. Amy Jo Johnson suggests you friend Hillary Swank and Jennifer Garner.
10. Amy Jo Johnson sends you an email with a link to more revealing photos of her that are hosted on a Russian dating website.

Facebook did not immediately respond to an interview request left at its California offices.

Willow Smith to Star in Zhang Bang Chang's 'Spandex Hero'

Oscar-nominated Chinese filmmaker Zhang Bang Chang has cast Willow Smith, the daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith in "Spandex Hero," a big-budget look at the life of former pink Power Ranger, Amy Jo Johnson, the director announced at a press conference on Wednesday.

Ms. Johnson has been the focus of several recent small budget Chinese films, all of which have featured the actress’ very early life during the Xia Dynasty and Johnson herself is reportedly in negations to join Spandex Hero in an advisory role with an option for a cameo appearance in the film.

While Willow Smith won't play an adult Johnson, she will play Johnson in her adolescent years during the Shang Dynasty when Johnson helped thousands of Chinese farmers escape certain death from magical winged serpents, armies of soulless bronze warriors and angry animal spirits.

Bang Chang wrote the script that is reportedly over 2100 pages, 40% of which will be filmed in China, with the rest being shot in Canada and the United Kingdom. “Film might be what westerners call franchise as film might be chop into five or six film because attention span of America be how you say…stupid,” said Bang Chang through an interpreter.

Bang Chang said that casting Smith wasn't a strategic effort to broaden the appeal of Amy Jo Johnson with the African American community, but rather a coincidence, as the script happened to have an English-speaking lead and Willow Smith speaks English. “History teach that Johnson spoke Chinese during first few thousand year but people too lazy to read film so we make film English for lazy bastards”. Bang Chang is said to be in negotiations with Harry Potter star Emma Watson to play Johnson in her years following the Qing Dynasty.

Bang Chang's longtime producer, Huang Tian, will produce through his Huang Moving Picture Film Company.

Sony Pictures Classics has distributed Bang Chang's movies in the U.S., but the studio doesn't appear to be involved in "Spandex Hero," though Hong Kong-based OOTM Films will be involved in selling the film's international rights, according to the Bollywood Movie Reporter.

"Spandex Hero" boasts a 1200 million Yuan ($180.4 million) budget, and production is scheduled to begin Oct. 10 in China.

Earl Hanes came ashore at Normandy, fought in the Battle of the Bulge and earned a Purple Heart but a photo album he keeps as a reminder of his service has revealed a very strange mystery.

"I want to remember what I did during the big war so I really cherish this album," Hanes told Channel 13 Action News. Hanes was showing his friend Calvin Bane some of his cherished war photos when Calvin spotted something odd. “I was browsing the war pictures when I spotted Amy Jo Johnson, the former Pink Power Ranger” explained Bane.

“I thought Calvin just had too much to drink again,” said Hanes. The combat veteran at first dismissed his friend’s claim but was shocked when Calvin showed him a photo of the actress from the Internet. “Calvin started to Googling stuff and he brought up a photo of this actress,” explained Hanes. “I couldn’t believe it, the page said she was Amy Jo Johnson but I knew her as Lieutenant A.J. Callaghan a young Canadian commando assigned to our detail back in WWII.”

The mystery deepened as Earl and Calvin continued their investigation. “Amy Jo was in about a half dozen of Earl’s war pictures and it just didn’t make any sense to me. How could an actress born in 1970 be in photos taken in the 1940s?” asked Bane. Earl and Calvin contacted the U.S. bureau of veteran’s affairs and were further mystified by the response they received. “According to the military big shots there was no one named Callaghan assigned to my unit, we received a similar answer from the Canadian government,” said Hanes.

Earl and Calvin would spend the rest of that weekend binge drinking at the local veteran’s club. “We didn’t go to the club looking for info, we just go there drinking pretty much every night,” said Bane. “Calvin got trashed on 151 rum and started rambling on about A.J. Callaghan being Amy Jo Johnson. He wandered off and fell asleep in one of the bathroom stalls,” said Hanes. “I was taking a brief nap and I guess I was talking in my sleep when Red Meade overheard me,” said Bane. Red was shocked at what Calvin was mumbling because he also remembered A.J. Callaghan from his days aboard The USS Washington.

Meade decided to go home and see if he had any photos of Callaghan but was arrested for DWI after a traffic stop. “Red is a good guy, even if he did serve in the navy, but it was a holiday weekend so he didn’t get out of lock up until Tuesday morning.” Said Hanes.

Once Meade was released from lock up the trio of unlikely detectives decided to meet at the veterans’ club and discuss their strange encounters over a few drinks. They spread Mead’s photos across a large card table and were astounded to find several photos that showed A.J. Callaghan onboard the Washington. Things got even stranger when the club’s bartender Randy Quail decided to see what all the commotion was about.

“In over twenty years I aint never seen Randy come out from behind the bar,” said Meade. “We don’t talk much to Randy because of what The Japanese did to him over in Nam, he acts sort of strange and I’m guessing he was tortured to the point where he forgot how to shave or put on a proper uniform for the Veteran’s Day parade,” said Hanes. “I’m pretty sure I’ve never heard him speak to anyone. He just nods and grunts when you give him a drink order,” added Bane.

This day would prove to be different in many ways. “Quail began thumbing through the photos and then began jumping up and down acting like he just won the Powerball lottery,” said Hanes. Quail just started screaming, “It’s Mad Dog Callaghan! Son of a bitch, it’s Mad Dog Callaghan!” Quail then proceeded to buy everyone round after round of drinks reported Meade who noted that “Randy Quail is a cheap prick who never even offered us free peanuts before”.

Quail claims he fought alongside of Mad Dog Callaghan during the 1966 Battle of Bong Son in Viet Nam and never knew what fate the young Canadian Lieutenant met. "There’s quite a bit I don’t remember about Nam, like why The United States got involved or what color my socks were but I remember being pinned down by enemy fire for four days and I also remember Callaghan showing up and saving my ass."

While looking at photos of Amy Jo Johnson found on the web Quail was overcome by a sense of amazement. “Mad Dog hasn’t aged one day since Nam. I just can’t believe I never noticed that she was a woman until now. Of course I noticed she was a bit more feminine than the U.S. guys but I just figured that was a Canadian thing. Nam was the first time I had ever left the states so I didn’t know the customs of Canada or any other place overseas like that” said Quail. “I did notice that Callaghan had what I would say was the best damn rear end of any navy officer I had ever served under but I honestly never dreamed the Lieutenant was a woman” added Meade.

Since Channel 13 Action News first aired this story last week, the station has been inundated with hundreds of witness accounts from all branches of the military and will air a special investigative report sometime in the following weeks.

HOLY guacamole! A East Hobart man has discovered the image of Amy Jo Johnson on a store-bought tortilla.

Unemployed actor Lloyd Brownstone told Global News Daily that the flatbread rose from the dead earlier this week.

"It came out of a packet on Wednesday night,'' he said. "My wife had the packet open for a few days and had actually thrown it out. I hadn’t eaten in a couple days due to my unemployment insurance running out so I resurrected it from the bin. I don’t normally eat garbage but it was still in the packet, and I opened it up and took one out and that was on it to my amusement."

On seeing the unusual markings, his first thought was that the face he could see was almost unmistakable.

"Could it be Amy Jo Johnson? Whether it's a message from one thespian to another I don't know. Maybe I should put in a shrine for Order of Meridian pilgrims to come and visit."

Mr Brownstone said he had no immediate plans to eat or sell his unusual tortilla, which was bought at a Rocky Bay supermarket.

"What do you do with it? Should I see if it brings me luck, maybe a job? " he said.

"We've wrapped it up to try to keep it as fresh as possible. I'm going to see how it unfolds."

Mr Brownstone said he might buy a lotto ticket or bet on a football match to see if the tortilla brings him luck.

Images of Amy Jo Johnson have appeared in food before.

In 1998 New Mexico woman Maria Romero noticed skillet marks on her tortilla resembling the face of Amy Jo Johnson.

More than 8000 Order of Meridian pilgrims went to her house to view what they regarded as a sacred icon.

And in 2004, the image of Amy Jo Johnson in a toasted cheese sandwich fetched $US24,000 on eBay.

Television star may have been attacked by a werewolf

Police are looking for a suspect that may have used a costume to possibly attack American born actress Amy Jo Johnson. According to a witness account, the creature looked like a big dog.

The inhabitants of São Sepé, Rio Grande do Sul, [Brazil] have one more reason to fear Friday the 13th. Besides the bad luck and the strange happenings during that day, a ‘werewolf’ is supposedly at large. One of the possible victims, Flashpoint star Amy Jo Johnson.

According to the police, Amy Jo Johnson may have been attacked during the night of August 13 by an animal that looked like a big dog that was standing on its back feet and walked as if it were a man. A witness made a sketch of the creature.

According to the complaint, the creature scratched the chest and may have bitten the neck of the actress. The police informed Global News Daily that Johnson refused medical examination but recent photos of the actress have confirmed the injuries. Officers also claim they will investigate if someone is using a werewolf costume to scare people. No suspect was arrested as of Friday.

In the rural area of Tauá, Ceará, locals asked for police help in July 2008, scared with sightings of an individual “half man and half wolf” that was stealing sheep and breaking into houses.

At the time, the police investigated the case, suspecting that a gang was using costumes to scare the locals and commit the crimes.
